Internship

Internship in general

The internship semester at HTW Berlin is a valuable opportunity for our students to gain practical experience in international business. During your internship, you can apply the theoretical knowledge you have gained in class to real-world situations and challenges. This hands-on experience helps you to develop skills, build confidence, and make valuable professional connections. Additionally, an internship semester provides students with a competitive edge in the job market by demonstrating to potential employers that they have practical experience. Overall, an internship semester is a beneficial and rewarding experience for students that can help to set them up for future success in their careers. Many of our BIB students receive a job offer from their internship company after the internship.

The internship coordinator/advisor supervises all internships. Until further notice it will be Prof. Dr. Tine Lehmann. Accompanying your internship, you will also participate in a virtual course (Internship Assessment and Evaluation - mandatory course) during the internship. Detailed information regarding the course can be obtained in the module description. Do not forget to register via LSF for the course!

Financing your internship

If you have questions on how to finance your internship abroad, the International Office at HTW Berlin is available to advise you.

Note: Erasmus documents (Learning Agreements) have to be sent as a PDF file after the internship has been approved!

Reimbursement of semester ticket

Please be aware that you must register as a student while abroad for the internship, including paying the semester fee. Once you have your signed internship application, you can apply for the reimbursement of the semester ticket fee at the semester ticket office.

Holiday and absence

During your internship you are not entitled to holiday time/vacation days. If your company has a different agreement with you and/or if you are absent due to illness for longer than 3 days, you must make up for the hours/days you missed accordingly. Please inform your programme coordinator / BIB course administrator immediately. We therefore recommend that your contracts last a little longer than the obligatory 85 days.
