The BIB Programme of HTW Berlin offers several double degree programmes that allow students to earn two degrees in two different countries. We have partnerships with reputable universities around the world, providing students with a unique opportunity to broaden their horizons and gain a global perspective. We offer double degree programmes on almost every continent and more are to come!

To take part in a double degree programme you have to apply once you are a BIB student. The places for the double degrees are limited and go only to the best students. In all of the double degree programmes you study 5 or 6 semesters at HTW Berlin and 2 semesters at the partner university. At the end, you receive a Bachelor’s degree from HTW Berlin and a second one from our partner university. All this without paying extra tuition!

Otago Polytechnic (New Zealand)

Our Partnership with Otago Polytechnic exists since 2015. One to two students can benefit from this double degree per year. At the Otago Polytechnic you will study in the Bachelor of Applied Management Program at the Campus in Dunedin. This Double Degree Partnership includes your internship. Hence, you will do an internship in New Zealand based on their internship rules. The degree from Otago Polytechnic is equal to 180 ECTS, so less ECTS than the HTW degree. Please check for the exact courses that you have to do at Otago Polytechnic well in advance (see contract) and make sure that you do not do these courses at HTW.

Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences (Finland) 

Our Partnership with Helsinki Metropolia exists since 2015. Up to four students can benefit from this double degree per year. At the Helsinki Metropolia you will study in the European Business Administration Program. The degree from Helsinki Metropolia is equal to 210 ECTS, so the same ECTS as in HTW. This double degree does not include your internship, but mainly courses from semester 4 and 5. Please check for the exact courses that you have to do at Helsinki Metropolia well in advance (see contract) and make sure that you do not do these courses at HTW. 

Universidad Zaragoza (UNIZAR) (Spain) 

Our Partnership with UNIZAR exists since 2018. Up to two students can benefit from this double degree per year. At the UNIZAR you will study in the Bachelor Business Administration and Management program. This Double Degree Partnership does not include your internship, hence, you will need to do an internship before or after your stay based on HTW internship rules. The degree from UNIZAR is equal to 240 ECTS, so more ECTS than the HTW degree, hence you study a semester longer. Please check for the exact courses that you have to do at UNIZAR well in advance (see contract) and make sure that you do not do these courses at HTW. 

British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) (Canada) 

Our Partnership with BCIT exists since 2021. Up to four students can benefit from this double degree per year. At the BCIT you will study in the Bachelor of Business Administration program at the Burnaby campus. This Double Degree Partnership does not include your internship, hence, you will need to do an internship before or after your stay based on HTW internship rules. You can do your internship in Canada, if you have the right visa. The degree from BCIT is equal to 240 ECTS, so more ECTS than the HTW degree, hence you study a semester longer. Please check for the exact courses that you have to do at BCIT well in advance (see contract) and make sure that you do not do these courses at HTW.

Tec de Monterrey (Mexico)

Our Partnership with Tec de Monterrey is part of a bigger consortium, the German University Consortium for International Cooperations, and is active since 2023. Up to two students can benefit from this double degree per year. At the Tec de Monterrey you will study in the Bachelor International Business program and can choose between different campus options. This Double Degree Partnership does not include your internship, hence, you will need to do an internship before or after your stay based on HTW internship rules. The degree from Tec de Monterrey is equal to 240 ECTS, so more ECTS than the HTW degree, hence you study a semester longer. Please check for the exact courses that you have to do at Tec de Monterrey well in advance (see course list) and make sure that you do not do these courses at HTW. 

University of the International Studies of Rome (UNINT) (Italy)

Our Partnership with UNINT is starting in the winter term 2024/25. At the UNINT you will study in the Bachelor International Economics and Digital Management. This Double Degree Partnership includes your internship, hence, you will do lab courses at UNINT instead of an internship. The degree from UNINT is 180 ECTS, so less than the HTW degree. Please check for the exact courses that you have to do at UNINT well in advance (see contract) and make sure that you do not do these courses at HTW. For this Double Degree you will need to defend your thesis twice, once at HTW and once at UNINT.

German International University (GIU ) (Egypt)

Our Partnership with GIU is currently in negotiations and we hope to send the first students in winter semester 2024/25. This partnerships is based on a larger partnership program and HTW is one of the founding partners of GIU. At the GIU you will study in the Bachelor International Business. This Double Degree Partnership will not include your internship, hence, you will have to do your internship before or after your exchange year according to HTW rules. The degree from GIU is 240 ECTS, so more ECTS than the HTW degree, hence you study a semester longer. Please check for the exact courses that you have to do at GIU well in advance (please check for updates here) and make sure that you do not do these courses at HTW. 

Due to differing semester schedules, you can only go abroad starting with the winter term. The double degrees are open to all students, independent of the semester of matriculation. 

The application process is coordinated between the study program director and the international office. If you want to apply for a double degree program please send your application as one (!) PDF to the study programme director (Prof. Dr. Tine Lehmann) via e-mail by December 10th of the year previous to the start of your exchange year. 

Your application should contain: 

- A title page with your double degree choice (you can list a priority 2 here)

- your current LSF transcript

- a letter of motivation (of why you want to do the double degree)

- a CV

The BIB Program team will then pre-select the applicants and transfer the applications to the international office, who takes over at this point to coordinate with the partner universities.
