Whether you're a recent high school graduate or a working professional looking to enhance your skills and knowledge, we welcome you to apply and join our diverse and vibrant community of learners. Please check our admission criteria in our current Study and Examination Regulations (mainly paragraphs §1-4) before starting your application process. In short you need:
- proof of English proficiency (if you did not acquire your higher education entrance qualification in an English-speaking OECD country)
- specialist entry qualifications

Application
Step 1:
Please register on the Hochschulstart website if you are applying for your first semester.
Are you already registered with Hochschulstart? Now all you need to do is apply for a study place! To do this, you will need your Hochschulstart access data (BID and BAN).
Step 2:
You should apply via the HTW Berlin application portal if one of the following requirements applies to you:
- You have a German higher education entrance qualification.
- You are a national of an EU or EEA country.
- You are changing your degree programme within HTW Berlin.
- You have successfully completed a preparatory course (Studienkolleg) in Germany.
The following application periods apply:
- Winter semester: 15.05. - 15.07.
- Summer semester: 15.11. - 15.01.
or
You should apply via uni-assist if you
- have a foreign higher education entrance qualification and
- are not a national of an EU or EEA country.
The following application periods apply:
- Winter semester: 02.04. - 30.06.
- Summer semester: 01.10. - 31.12.

Do I need proof of English if I took an English major class in high school?
Yes, if your school was not located in an English-speaking OECD country, you will have to provide a test result from one of the accepted testing institutions.
Do I need proof of English if I come from a country that has English as one of its main languages but is not an OECD country?
Yes, you will have to provide a test result from one of the accepted testing institutions.
Do I need proof of English if I am a citizen of an English-speaking OECD country but I acquired my higher education entrance qualification in a non-English-speaking OECD country?
Yes, you will have to provide a test result from one of the accepted testing institutions.

Can I submit my proof of English after the deadline?
Please consider that we receive a high number of applications. Therefore, it is advisable to submit all documents on time if you want to be considered for the study program.
Do I need any level of German language to study the BIB?
No.
I am already studying at another university. Can I transfer?
Yes, you can. However, we can only determine which of your previous courses are accredited after you register as a student with us. Transfer slots are also limited.
I have an European Baccaleaureate Diploma. How do I apply?
If you have a European Baccaleaureate Diploma you can apply via the HTW Application Portal.
I have an IB Diploma. How do I apply?
If you have an IB Diploma from a school accredited in Germany or you are a German national you can apply via the HTW Application Portal. If the school is not accredited in Germany and you are not a German national, you will have to apply via uni-assist. Find details here.
I have US high school degree from an international school. How do I apply?
